Summary:
|
In 1980, Congress designated the first Tuesday in May as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association (NEA) continued this observance until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week during the first full week of May. The NEA then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.
This day is dedicated each year to honoring the teachers in our state who have a profound impact on our students. The dedication and skills of our district's educators are invaluable, and it is our students who benefit most. This year, National Teacher Day is on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, and Teacher Appreciation Week will be observed district-wide from May 5–9, 2025.
We are proud to celebrate the outstanding educators of the Silver Valley Unified School District, who are shaping today’s youth for a bright future.
