Summary:

The 5th, 6th and 7th grade students at Fort Irwin Middle School, Newberry Elementary School, Tiefort View Intermediate School and Yermo School have been accepted to attend the Emerald Cove Outdoor Science Institute located in Big Bear, CA. Several of our schools have attended the camp in the past and they believe it is a great program. 7th grade students will attend the camp December 8-10, 2021, and 5th and 6th grade students will attend camp May 2-6, 2022, and all students will be transported by school bus. Each school site will be sending chaperones to stay at the camp with their students.

Cost - $220.40 per student plus transportation for grade 7 Cost - $419.90 per student plus transportation for grades 5 and 6 FIMS: 100 students = $22,040 NSES: 20 students = $8,398 TVIS: 100 students = $41,990 Yermo (grade 5/6): 70 students = $29,393 Yermo (grade 7): 50 students = $11,020 Total: $112,841 All expenses will be covered through fundraising, donations, grants, PTO's and general unrestricted funds.

It is recommended that the Governing Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for students from grades 5th, 6th and 7th of Fort Irwin Middle School, Newberry Springs Elementary School, Tiefort View Intermediate School, and Yermo School to attend the Emerald Cove Outdoor Science Institute located in Big Bear, CA, with 7th grade attending December 8-10, 2021 and 5th/6th grade attending May 2-6, 2022.
