Summary:
Yermo School campus, due to age and need, has experienced many updates and improvements over the past few years. One area that has been ongoing in maintenance and safety is the various mature trees on campus.

During the Labor Day Holiday weekend, a fallen tree incident occurred. In the grassy area, near the cafeteria, one of the mature Elm Trees fell during a high wind incident. This incident raised concern about the other trees on the campus.

An arborist came and examined the trees of concern on campus. The opinion of the arborist was to remove the following trees:
*6 trees located on the grassy area near the cafeteria
*1 large tree located in front of rooms 1,2 & 3
*1 tree located near the office.

It was determined that these trees are in danger of falling over or of large branches falling off. The various trees in question are diseased and infested with insects. They are in a similar condition to the tree that fell during Labor Day weekend, which means the heartwood or interior part of the tree is dead and rotten.

If any one of these trees and/or parts of these trees fell and hit a person or child, it could result in severe injury.

Based on the data, and past events with these trees, it is also recommended these trees be removed for safety purposes.

All trees will be cut down, stumps ground down, and all debris and clipping will be removed from the school campus properties.
